Our History

Brick Church in East Orange, New Jersey received its nickname almost as soon as it was built in 1832 from the distinctive red colored bricks made from red Jersey clay. When the railroad station was put in, it was immediately called the Brick Church Station, as were many of the businesses in the area.

Today, it is known as Temple of Unified Christians at Brick Church, but it retains its importance to the City of East Orange as its first “official” church.

In total disrepair for almost two decades, a wonderful group of dedicated Christians came together eight years ago and felt it their duty to save this building from imminent destruction. They felt duty bound to contribute their immense efforts to the entire city. As a non-profit church, they help the homeless, the alcoholic, and the drug addicted with food, counseling, and referral services on a daily basis.
The congregation now faces the loss of their house of worship.Foreclosure is at hand. The sacred place to which they have contributed considerable time and money to help others in the community will go out of existence.

We are now reaching out to the public to help us find the miracle that we are praying for. With our historic building in foreclosure, we need to raise $350,000 in order to settle our debt in full and end foreclosure. We have less than three months to get this done

Your assistance could allow this landmark church to continue to be a beacon of hope that many generations over the past 181 years have been guided by.

We thank you for your help... God Bless.
